A FIRST-HALF purple patch was enough to secure a second consecutive victory for Warrington Wolves.

Having fallen behind to Josh Simm’s early score in the corner, The Wire hit Castleford Tigers with three tries in 20 minutes before the break which eventually proved enough for victory.

Two carbon-copy finishes in the left corner from Matty Ashton got them into the lead before Joe Philbin rumbled over to finish off a nice move involving Matt Dufty and Toby King.

Stefan Ratchford then added a long-range penalty on the hooter to send Sam Burgess’ men in at half time 20-4 up, with Dufty slithering through just after the interval to put the hosts in full command.

Innes Senior touched down to keep Cas just about alive, but The Wire held them at bay before Josh Thewlis added a fifth Wire try late on.
