WHEN Steve Price read his men a poem at half time in the win against Hull FC on Friday it worked wonders.

But The Wire head coach will need his men at their best from the start in the Challenge Cup quarter-final against Wigan Warriors on Saturday.

Fans have been penning words of wisdom this week in poems that they believe would be just the ticket for Price to read out to his men moments before they go into battle at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.

And sports editor Mike Parsons has had a go too.

You can still join in with your Wire v Wigan poems. Leave in the comments at warringtonguardian.co.uk, Tweet WG_Sport, visit our Warrington Wolves-Warrington Guardian or Warrington Guardian Sport Facebook pages.

Smash the pies, score more tries,

Let’s go barmy with Steve Price’s army

The time has come, I hear you say,

To beat the pies, who stand in our way,

We’re 2 games from the final, and in with a chance,

Of adding another challenge Cup and watching the Barmy Army dance,

Steve Price has got this team playing, and it’s very good to see,

When the Wire go marching on to Wembley!

Those people in the stands are here for you,

Ready and willing to roar you through,

Put your best foot forward when you cross the white line,

Give of your best just like we designed,

Tackle hard, run strong,

To beat Wigan you need to be on song,

No silly penalties, keep hold of the ball,

That’s the way your enemy will fall,

Take every chance, make them count,

Important to see the points mount,

We know last year’s quarter final was tragic,

And that they did for us again at Magic,

But forget the past, it’s here and now that matters,

Get it right on the day to leave their dream in tatters,

There’s no second chances in the Challenge Cup,

Too many errors and our run will be up,

The semi finals are the prize at stake,

There’s memories that together we can make,

Do it for yourself, do it for your family,

Make us all feel proud, not angry,

Give Wigan hell out there and hold no fear,

Because what they say is true...it’s always our year

Roses are red, violets are blue

If you don’t beat Wigan, it’s no bonus for you

Look the pies straight in the eyes

No backwards steps, give them a surprise,

Straight up in attack, don’t hold back

Stick to the plan, keep on track,

Kick the ball up, keep heads up

Keep in mind ‘This Is The Cup’,

Keep defence tight, keep their line in sight

All will be well, the Price is right

They beat us at Magic and to take it was hard

But Saturday will be different in our own back yard,

It’s the Challenge Cup we have nothing to fear

And remember this – it’s always our year

Quarter finals are finally here

I can here the pies singing its always your year.

To win is a day we will remeber forever

To lose is something we go through together.

Just do your best and keep penalties low Stick your game plan let confidence grow.

Don't get drawn in to cheap game play by them You know what to expect they do it time and again.

Your tomkins Bateman Farrell and wane

Im looking forward to you losing the game.

Cherry and whites you can all cheer.

Wire will end the game singing this is our year.
