SUNDAY is something of a landmark for the English Half Marathon.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the race which has become a fixture in the annual calendar for the town.

Thousands of runners will take on the half marathom, 10k, 5k or mile over this weekend.

So what are the details?

We have complied a handy guide of what is happening when and where.

WHEN IS THE RACE?

The half marathon and 10k both start from Winmarleigh Street at 9am on Sunday.

ARE THERE OTHER RACES?

There are, yes.

On Friday night, a 5k takes place through Victoria Park from 8pm if you want a race under the stars.

At 12.45pm on Sunday, the Wire FM family mile takes place if you want to add an extra medal to your collection

WHAT ABOUT ROAD CLOSURES ?

This is the fourth time that the race has included the iconic finish through the Golden Gates and the town centre route.

As usual, drivers can expect some delays along roads in and around the town centre, especially at the start at 9am.

Runners who are taking on the half marathon will also head out through Grappenhall and Appleton Thorn in the south of Warrington.

Those completing the 10k will stay around Latchford, taking in Victoria Park before completing a route of the town centre before crossing the finishing line.

All runners will head across Bridge Foot and east along Knutsford Road before those in the half marathon complete a crossing of the Cantilever Bridge over the ship canal.

Warrington Guardian:
The second half of the course returns to the town centre via Lumb Brook Road and Knutsford Road, then passing through the town centre and finishing by running up Winmarleigh Street to the Golden Gates. 

Full and partial road closures and diversions will be in place for several hours from 5am until 2pm.

Bridge Foot itself will be closed temporarily between 8.55am and 9.20am to allow the runners to go down Knutsford Road, partial closures will then takeover.

Winmarleigh Street and Sankey Street will be completely closed until 2pm.

An alternative route will be available for drivers.
It will be via London Road, Wilderspool Causeway, Warrington New Bridge, Bridge Foot, Wilson Patten Street, Parker Street, Liverpool Road, Sankey Way, Priestley Street, Froghall Lane, Midland Way, Manchester Road, Kingsway North, Kingsway South, Knutsford Road, Cliff Lane and vice versa.

IS THERE ANYTHING NEW ?

Yes, there is a new expo for runners in the Old Fish Market at Golden Square.

Between Friday and Saturday the first GS Active Lifestyle Expo will take place.
It will provide runners and their supporters lots of information about running, wellbeing, health and fitness from exhibitors including Culture Warrington, LiveWire, Real Buzz, Warrington Wolves and Run Geek.

And former world 800m medallist Jenny Meadows will be there on the Saturday

IS THERE ANY ENTERTAINMENT ON SUNDAY ?

Yes - the race!

But after you have seen your loved one cross the line, Golden Square will host the ultimate finishers party to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the EHM including a DJ and talented singer Tricia McTeague, who has toured Europe, sang the National Anthem at 2017’s Rugby League World Cup and worked as Ronan Keating’s backing singer.
