THIS year marks the 10th anniversary of the English Half Marathon in Warrington.

Thousands have taken part since the event began when the start and finish line was at Victoria Park.

Now it starts in Winmarleigh Street with a finish through the Golden Gates.

Here is our 10 things to look out for if you are running on Sunday, or if you have taken part before.

1 Finishing through the Golden Gates in front of the Town Hall is great but just don’t sprint too early...

Warrington Guardian:

2 Don’t get too annoyed when the race splits near the Cantilever Bridge and you see the 10k runners head down Loushers Lane while you climb up to the bridge

Warrington Guardian:

3 Warrington is surprisingly hilly, especially in south Warrington!

4 Look out for the lovely people giving out sweets in Appleton Thorn – jelly babies give you extra energy

5 If you think crossing the Cantilever is bad the first time, try not to let it cross your mind you have to do it again seven miles later

6 Look back when you are on Winmarleigh Street waiting for the start – the packed road is a great sight

Warrington Guardian:

7 Thank the volunteers as you pass by – most are from charities in the area and their support really spurs you on so give them a wave. Smiling helps the pain

8 Don’t panic if your watch loses signal in The Halliwell Jones Stadium for a few seconds! It will come back on when you come out

9 Don't be too discouraged if people in fancy dress pass you on the route. Wearing a tutu or dressing like a character out of Shrek is actually aero-dynamic

Warrington Guardian:

10 Smile or wave for the camera – we will have photographers on the route and you could be in our special pull-out next week
