THIS is the shameless moment a woman walks into the front garden of a couple's home armed with a trowel and plastic bag to steal potted plants and a hanging basket.

Matthew Jones, 31, and Kirsty Dykes, 32, have released CCTV footage, which was captured on a neighbour's camera, of the theft on Sunday at 9.30pm.

The video was posted on Facebook yesterday, Wednesday, and so far thousands of people have watched the footage while hundreds have shared the video in the hope of catching the culprit.

The couple, who are currently renovating the property on Battersby Lane, had recently paid £200 for the flowers and plants to spruce up the front garden.

It is estimated around half of these plants were stolen.

Matthew, who has served in the military, said: "It was unbelievable. I felt like shouting at her through the camera.

"This was Kirsty's grandma's home and she always made sure the house looked nice and we wanted to do the same.

"You work hard for your money and then this happens."

Kirsty's grandma Alice Dykes died on May 29, 2016, at the age of 89.

"She was very hardworking and very much loved in the community. She took pride in the house, which she passed on to me," said Kirsty, who works in sales.

"I planted these flowers in tribute to my lovely grandma as she loved to garden.

"I am gobsmacked and want her stopped. I don’t want her to cause upset to anyone else."

The woman is captured on the CCTV footage opening the gate on the main road before spending around three minutes in the front garden.

She is then seen walking away with a plastic bag containing plants and a hanging basket in her arms.

Police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing into the incident.

The couple have asked anyone with information to contact the police.

Call Cheshire Constabulary on 101 citing incident number 18100141485.
