WARRINGTON Borough Council's deputy leader has called for Slutchers Lane to be renamed – after telling executive board members 'slutcher' means 'filth, dirtbag and whore'.

Which got us thinking - how many other Warrington road names need changing due to their level of cheek?

We're going to kick things off with the most obvious...

1. Cockhedge Lane

An easy one for any comedians visiting the town to get the ball rolling with this observational gag.

Answers on a postcard how this area of the town got the name...

Warrington Guardian: A veterinary practice could be on its way to Cockhedge Shopping Centre

2. Slag Lane

We can only imagine what went on here

Warrington Guardian:

3. Longbutt Lane

Oddly, Google has decided to blur out Lane but decided 'Butt' is okay?

Warrington Guardian:

4. The Farthings

And we find it hard to believe this sign has never been messed with. Met Office yet to confirm if this is the windiest part of town

Warrington Guardian:

5. Fiddlers Ferry Road

This one seems perfectly normal when you've grown up next to it but you're guaranteed a guffaw from out-of-towners.

Sadly none of Warrington's snigger-worthy examples made it on to the top 10 funniest place names compiled by insurance provider Swiftcover earlier this year.

The top 10 in full included:

Bell End, Worcestershire

Brown Willy, Cornwall

Boggy Bottom, Hertfordshire

Twatt, Orkney

Nob End, Lancashire

Fanny Barks, Durham

Scratchy Bottom, Dorset

Minge Lane, Worcestershire

Dicks Mount, Suffolk

Crotch Crescent, Oxford

Think we have missed any?
