WARRINGTON Borough Council's deputy leader has called for Slutchers Lane to be renamed – after telling executive board members 'slutcher' means 'filth, dirtbag and whore'.
Cllr Graham Friend (LAB – Poulton North) highlighted the matter at Monday's Town Hall meeting.
It followed a discussion on the Centre Park link scheme, of which Slutchers Lane is a key part.
Part of the masterplan will see a crossing over the Mersey, to connect Chester Road to the town centre via Slutchers Lane, built.
Cllr Friend said: "The word 'slutcher' means filth, dirtbag and whore.
"Can someone look at renaming the road? It is not the impression we want to give."
