HUNDREDS of women put their best foot forward on Friday to raise funds for St Rocco's Hospice as part of the charity's tenth Starlight Walk.

Laughter filled the air as the procession of pink ladies strutted through the town as the clock struck midnight.

An impressive 1,200 ladies lined up in a pink parade to pound the streets of Warrington to raise thousands of pounds for St Rocco's Hospice.

Around 300 volunteers also gave up their time to make sure the charity walk ran smoothly.

Aimee Daley, who completed the walk with her sister, said: "This was our fourth Starlight walk and it just keeps getting bigger and better.

"I thoroughly enjoyed it even if my legs have now divorced me."

Volunteer Jane Clarke, who helped out at the start before taking on the challenge, said: "I don't know where the last 10 years have gone.

"I love volunteering here. You really see the best of people and the atmosphere is amazing."

More than £129,000 was raised through generous donations.

Willing participants completed the route of either 6.5 or 13 miles and were greeted by Wolves star Ben Harrison at the finish.

Despite an away game in Hull on the same evening, Ben raced back to help out during the early hours of the morning and lend his support to the biggest fundraiser of the year for Warrington Guardian's charity of the year St Rocco’s.

Claire Houghton, income generation manager at St Rocco’s, added: “We knew the tenth anniversary of the walk would be special but it far exceed our expectations.

“Starlight is our biggest fundraiser and a great example of Warrington coming together to support the Hospice, which really does belong to the community.”

While aching muscles are hopefully a distant memory for the hundreds of walkers who took part, there's still plenty of time to donate.

But while our photographer Mike Boden was out and about on the night taking pictures of all the action, many fundraisers turned the camera on themselves to take their own Starlight selfies.

Here are just a few of our favourite reader pictures.
