STEVE Price does not think frequent meetings with Wigan Warriors will dilute The Wire’s rivalry with them.
Sunday’s Challenge Cup sixth round clash at The Halliwell Jones Stadium will be the first of two games between the sides this month.
They meet again at Magic Weekend on May 25 and August’s game at the DW Stadium means the sides will play each other at least four times in 2019.
There were six meetings between the sides last year but Price feels the needle between Warrington and Wigan will never decrease.
“We’re a new squad from what we were last year and they’ve got different personnel too, including a new coach,” he said.
“Warrington and Wigan will always be a great rivalry so I don’t think playing each other so many times will affect that.
“They are always great contests and Sunday will be no different.
“We’ll go into Challenge Cup mode – as a club we pride ourselves on setting high standards in this competition and it will be no different on Sunday.
“They beat us in the Grand Final last year and that’s a memory that still hurts.
“We’re in a really good place but we understand it will be a really hard game on Sunday.”
