HARD work is underway to get a popular Warrington pub back on its feet following its shock closure announcement this week.

The owner of The Rams Head Inn, situated in Grappenhall, has released a statement confirming the ‘temporary’ closure of the pub, which was described by locals as a ‘staple’ within the heart of the village.

The initial announcement of the pub’s closure, which was made via a statement on its social media page on Tuesday, came as a shock to residents.

Many stated how ‘gutted’ they were to see the establishment close its doors.

One resident took to social media to say: “This is so sad, the whole hospitality industry is on its knees.

“Costs are way too high to maintain. I am very sad to see you go and loved the welcoming hospitality.”

However, the operators of the pub, Punch Pubs and Co, has released a statement in light of the news, stating the closure will not be permanent.

A spokesman for the pub chain said: “We appreciate everything our publican Ross has done at The Rams Head and respect his decision to leave the business, which has been amicable.

“We are continuing to work with Ross to ensure a smooth transition.

“The Rams Head will temporarily remain closed while we work hard to get the pub back up and running, so that it can continue to thrive in the community of Grappenhall for many years to come.”

When the pub will reopen is yet to be confirmed, but work is currently ongoing.
