WARRINGTON'S Conservative Party has called on Charlotte Nichols MP to resign from her seat.

This comes after Ms Nichols used inflammatory language on social media over the weekend to describe her attitude toward the Conservative Party.

Attending the Neighbourhood Weekender festival at Victoria Park over the bank holiday weekend, the Labour MP for Warrington North took to Twitter to condone the use of the phrase 'F*** the Tories' at the festival.

Ms Nichols posted: "Big chants of "f*ck the Tories" for Jamie Webster at Neighbourhood Weekender and, I can't lie, I absolutely LOVE to see it!

"Love you Warrington."

Right-wing political commentator Sophie Corcoran replied to the MP's controversial tweet, saying: "MPs like you are the reason I get an onslaught of violent messages and death threats and have been harassed and intimidated in public.

"You encourage that - be a grown up.

"You’re actively making life harder for young women in politics."

Responding to the criticism levied at her, Ms Nichols said: "You don't know the first thing about what I've experienced in Westminster or outside it and if this tweet is the worst thing you've seen, I'm frankly happy for you; get a life."

Now, Warrington's Conservatives have taken a swipe at the Labour MP.

Chair of the town's Tories, Theo Mirfin, said: "The Labour MP for Warrington North is the first to talk and complain about inappropriate social media tweets as it has ‘whipped up hatred towards her’ yet here we are again with more offensive and bizarre behaviour from Ms Nichols.

"Instead of withdrawing the tweet, she then decides to give a car crash interview on the Independent Republic of Mike Graham on Talk TV which has left many of our residents feeling very uncomfortable.

"Ms Nichols has the privilege to debate in the chamber at Westminster on behalf of her constituents and as Mike Graham said quite correctly if she repeated her ‘hate’ mantra in there she’d be asked to leave the chamber.

"Why should her conduct on her certified page fall short of what standards are expected of elected representatives?"

He added: “This isn’t a one-off episode; we’ve had even more inappropriate comments on social media in the past.

"However, this latest incitement of hate shown is totally shocking. Warrington deserves better, Labour deserves better, Ms Nichols needs to tender her resignation and apologise to the people of Warrington.

"She has no mandate to speak on their behalf.”
