A LARGE group of travellers who moved onto land at Victoria Park have been ordered to move by tomorrow afternoon, Thursday.
The encampment is on the field at the park and consists of around 30 caravans as well as their associated vehicles.
The group has been there since yesterday evening, Tuesday, and allegedly damaged barriers in order to gain access to the field.
But now police have issued a section 61 order – meaning they must leave tomorrow.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “Police are aware of an unauthorised encampment at Victoria Park in Warrington.
“Officers have attended the scene and spoken to all those present and a section 61 order has now been issued meaning that all those present will be required to leave the site by 3pm on Thursday, May 5.
“Officers are conducting regular patrols in the area and anyone with any concerns should speak to an officer.”
There have also been reports of vehicles driving across the sports fields as well as passers by being offered cash and threatened over their dogs.
The encampment off Knutsford Road follows the news that travellers set up on land at Orford Park on April 24.

But today it was reported that more caravans and their associated vehicles moved on to the land – with some blocking a footpath which leads through the park.
One resident said: “I’ve got a bee in my bonnet. You can’t even get on to the path, they have blocked it.”
According to a Cheshire West and Chester website that is dedicated to reporting encampments, the group on the land behind the Orford Jubilee Hub has been served a court order today.
