CRIMINALS who commit waste crime and fly-tipping in east Warrington were the subject of a police crackdown yesterday, Wednesday.

Offices from Cheshire Police’s Rural Crime Team and waste enforcement officers from Warrington Borough Council were actively stopping commercial vehicles in the Rixton area.

A number of vehicles were stopped and checked as part of the operation, with the force stating that this produced some ‘great results’.

It says that more similar operations are planned in the future to prevent criminals from dumping rubbish in Warrington’s green spaces.

The team said: “Cheshire Police Rural Crime Team and Warrington Borough Council have been out in foul weather running one of our famous pro-active pop-up operations, this time targeting vehicles involved in waste crime in the Rixton area of Warrington.

“Numerous commercial vehicles were stopped and checked during the op, producing some great results.

“Many thanks to the Warrington Borough Council’s waste enforcement officers, and also for the patience of those innocent busy tradesmen unfortunately but unavoidably inconvenienced for no more than a few minutes while checks were completed.

“We are always looking ahead to the next operation with all manner of police units and partner agencies, including the four councils around Cheshire.”
