TWO areas of Warrington recorded more than 50 cases of coronavirus over the past week.

This is according to data published from a period before surge testing was introduced in the town yesterday, Friday.

In total, 17 areas across the borough saw a rise in Covid case numbers an infection rates, while six areas saw a fall and two remained unchanged.

Infection rates are published using Public Health England figures via an interactive map published on the Government’s online coronavirus dashboard.

At the time of writing, the map displayed the number and rate of new cases in each area of Warrington in the seven days up to July 4.

Here is the number of new cases (rate of new cases per 100,000 people and change in case numbers from the previous week) in each area of Warrington:

  1. Fairfield and Howley – 59 (492.4 – up 39 cases)
  2. Stockton Heath and Hillcliffe – 52 (569.6 – up 28 cases)
  3. Culcheth West and Croft – 46 (629.3 – up 15 cases)
  4. Hulme – 44 (504.7 – up 9 cases)
  5. Kingswood and Whittle Hall – 44 (428.3 – up 8 cases)
  6. Grappenhall and Thelwall – 39 (501.2 – up 22 cases)
  7. Central Warrington – 38 (327 – up 11 cases)
  8. Lymm – 37 (291.1 – down 8 cases)
  9. Culcheth East and Hollins Green – 34 (527.1 – no change)
  10. Appleton – 31 (552 – up 20 cases)
  11. Callands and Old Hall – 31 (277.7 – up 6 cases)
  12. Latchford – 30 (309.3 – up 8 cases)
  13. Appleton Thorn, Stretton and Walton – 29 (449.3 – up 8 cases)
  14. Padgate and Paddington – 29 (331.3 – down 3 cases)
  15. Hood Manor and Sankey Bridges – 26 (287.8 – down 5 cases)
  16. Winwick and Burtonwood – 25 (394.1 – up 8 cases)
  17. Woolston – 22 (318.3 – up 3 cases)
  18. Houghton Green and Fearnhead – 22 (274.6 – down 10 cases)
