In a statement, Andy Carter, Warrington South MP, said: “I’m very grateful for the speed at which Cheshire Police responded, I wasn’t there at the time but it’s very frightening for members of my team who spend their time helping constituents, when someone is hammering on the windows, shouting abuse and spray painting graffiti on the glass.

"It’s completely unacceptable for groups such as Extinction Rebellion to hide behind the guise of protest while committing criminal acts that cause damage and intimidation.

"This is a workplace and nobody should feel concerned for their safety when simply doing their job.

"I’m also hugely grateful to the local residents who turned up to help clean the graffiti away, their kind support is much appreciated.”
