A RECRUITMENT drive has been launched to find care workers who can provide support for some of Warrington’s most vulnerable people during the coronavirus pandemic.

Working in adult social care can be challenging, but it is regarded as being one of the most rewarding professions to be involved in.

The Care Hero Campaign, which originally launched in April 2020 during the first coronavirus wave, aims to bring more people into the care sector so that staffing levels can match current and future demand.

With the pandemic continuing to put increased pressure on hospital wards and social care services, Warrington Borough Council is keen to recruit even more carers.

Roles most sought after include care staff in residential or nursing home care, support staff in supported living settings and domiciliary care or home care staff.

Full training will be available to those recruited, and all staff will be provided with adequate PPE and access to a Covid-19 vaccine as a care worker, alongside regular testing.

Cllr Rebecca Knowles, cabinet member for statutory health and adult social care, said: “We are on a collective mission to recruit people to support adult social care services during the ongoing pandemic.

“There are lots of rewarding, varied and flexible roles available across the adult social care sector, and all you need to start are the qualities of compassion and patience, as there is training for everything else.

“As a care worker, you can work flexibly with a job that fits around your other commitments.

“Working in adult social care is an incredibly rewarding job, and will really suit people who are kind, caring and compassionate who have good communication skills.

“If you have been recently furloughed or have been made redundant due to the coronavirus pandemic, then there is a wide range of roles available in Warrington where you can make a real difference.”
