A LORRY driver has died following an accident on the M6 northbound this morning, Friday.
Police are appealing for witnesses after the driver of a HGV was seriously injured when his vehicle left the carriageway at junction 25 for Bryn, Wigan.
The driver was taken to hospital where he sadly later died. His family is being supported by specially trained officers.
There were long delays due to accident investigation work between junction 25 for Bryn and junction 26 M58 Orrell Interchange.
Congestion was back to to junction 22 Newton Le Willows.

The motorway was shut at 7.15am.
Traffic was being held for around 20 minutes before the junction while cones are put out.
