COUNCIL bosses say a scheme to help parking problems on a Grappenhall road is being drawn up.

As reported in the Warrington Guardian last week, East View became blocked for half an hour earlier this month after a HGB got stuck as it tried to negotiate the road.

The street has become a nightmare for residents with shoppers at the nearby Tesco Express on Knutsford Road regularly parking on the once quiet road.

As the HGV tried to reverse last week, it got stuck before hitting a parked car.

One angry resident said it was time for things to change.

He added: “Here’s another example of chaos and danger in East View caused by the traffic hell since the arrival of Tesco.”

Now the council says a solution could be at hand.

A council spokesman said: “For several months, officers have been working closely with residents to assist with parking, accessibility and inappropriate speed along East View.

“A potential scheme, taking on board the outcomes of a recent residential consultation, is presently being designed.

“It is intended to deliver agreed measures on site as early as possible, to tackle the issues residents and road users are presently experiencing.”

Cllr Ryan Bate (LD – Grappenhall) says it is time for action to come up with a solution.

He added: “The problems on East View have been going on for far too long. I am aware that council officers are trying to find a solution which works for the residents of East View, however this latest incident proves that that solution needs to be found as soon as possible.

“I hope to meet with highways officers as a matter of urgency to see what we might do.”

Shoppers at Tesco regularly park on East View as the car park for the store is often full.
