AT long last the council’s transport section is taking action to stop the gridlock on Winwick Road by getting rid of the traffic island at the junction with Long Lane and Hawleys Lane.
Credit must go to Clr Alan Litton who has been looking after traffic and transport in Warrington over the past few years and has sorted out several problems that the previous Labour administration ignored.
That administration also blamed the current council for the problems at the Asda Westbrook junction which they initiated in the first place. When the Longford Island bottleneck is sorted then the next job must be the abortion of an island at Winwick Road and Cromwell Avenue.
