I WRITE regarding Mr Stephen Corbett’s letter in the June 26 edition of Points of View, regarding servicemen being let down. I totally agree with his comments.
I am an ex-soldier and served for 15 years in Northern Ireland and twice in Iraq.
On the second tour of Iraq I sustained injuries that resulted in my medical discharge.
Last year I collected for the poppy appeal in the town centre for two weeks and raised £5,244.64 from the very generous Warrington people, who obviously care and understand the problems of the ex-service community.
I stood, sometimes in discomfort, so that other ex-servicemen could receive help.
I am shocked that Warrington had no events planned for the ex-forces community on veterans week/day.
Does anyone at Warrington Borough Council care enough to show some respect by holding events to mark veterans week?
Obviously not.
I am disgusted.
