FOR the first time I feel moved to write to the Warrington Guardian.

I really enjoyed your live updates from the hearing in regards to the Chief Constable’s appeal against gross misconduct charges (Warrington Guardian, April 26).

As well as serious factual reporting there was a sprinkling of humour during the breaks to help keep the reader engaged. Nicely done.

So finally today after a hectic week I settled down in my empty house with a cup of tea to read your take on the final day of the hearing, even though I knew the outcome.

Then disaster, the milk went sour.

There in capital letters breaking news John Dwyer, the former PCC, asking Dave Keane to stand down.

This from the man who employed Simon Byrne, the chief constable, and if the charges are upheld did nothing for two years about the horrendous working conditions and the wasted public money.

He then points to an unsigned letter in Private Eye.

What kind of spineless weasel doesn’t sign a letter that makes nasty little innuendos.

Can I just get one thing straight.

David Keane is the most honest, straightforward and totally transparent public servant you are ever likely to meet.

He has Labour values running through his very being and for the many not the few really does sum him up.
