WARRINGTON Borough Council recently wrote to all 269 so-called ‘self-funders’ of their own social care in the borough to inform them they were to be charged another £4 per week for office overheads.

The council already keeps the council tax and adult social care precept it charges everyone before means-testing the 269 and demanding they pay again for their care.

The council says the 269 ‘benefit from the service that is available’.

That is because we already pay for it.

For self-funder read ‘twicecharged’.

Instead of dreaming up excuses to charge the 269 twice-over for office overheads, the council should examine how many thousands of pounds they waste, paying 100 per cent for 30 minute and 15 minute care visits of which they know the service user only receives 70 per cent of the time on average.
