ARE the council and police setting a precedent with their continuing behaviour?

I refer to the travellers yet again on Silver Lane.

It seems to now be quite acceptable to litter without fear of prosecution, as no-one has been prosecuted for littering on Silver Lane, despite the sign warning of a penalty (I’m thinking of entering it into the funniest signs in Warrington competition).

There has been the lighting of fires to burn the insulation from the mound of copper wire which has been dumped at the bottom of the lane, not only an unnecessary callout for the fire brigade, but it causes damage to the environment and the motorway below.

We are told by the council it’s a public highway but when we ask the police about the parking they direct us to the council. We ring the council and they won’t talk to residents.

Their favourite comment is about waiting to find a site for them.

Sorry what has that got to do with breaking the law?

I apologise for the moan, but when we pay the highest council tax and we have to endure this sort of treatment it becomes very annoying.

Then we read in the Warrington Guardian there will be no better gate or cameras for Silver Lane, makes you think the council are happy for travellers to be there.

How much has the council spent on clearing up after travellers on Silver Lane?
