I WAS very sorry to read in the Warrington Guardian of the passing of a very old mate of mine, Ted Webb, who was 93 when he died.
He was a real character.
As teenagers we played for Crosfields Football Club, we won The Guardian Cup and had our photograph in the newspaper.
On a separate note; On February 12 my wife Barbara and I marked being married for 70 years.
We were the first couple to use Walton Hall for our reception.
In those days people didn’t have their own cars, I hired a double decker bus to take the guests from the church to the hall and a round trip of Warrington after the reception.
I thought 70 years ago that it was an ideal venue, with the improvements that have already been made and people now having their own cars it makes it more so.
I wonder how many of us are still alive and kicking from those days?
