ALF Clemo’s reply to Garry Bebbington’s article was a bit flippant (Warrington Guardian, October 19).

Cllr Mike Hannon receives a very substantial salary in return for his services to the community. That’s why he does the job.

On the other hand our local hero holds down a full time job and because of the abysmal public services we receive in south Warrington he cares about our communities and chooses to fight the only way he can.

That is to hold the Labourcontrolled council to task by highlighting the inequality there is in this town when it comes to dealing out services.

Planning objections are totally ignored, be it housing or yet more fast food outlets with all the associated litter and traffic, parking charges forced on us while free parking abounds in other parts of the town and no resident parking schemes.

Our streets are littered with cars dumped for the day due to the council-enforced parking charges.

The only visible council employees are the wardens ready to jump on anyone committing the slightest infringement while visiting to spend their hard earned cash.

We vote in parish councillors and town councillors who are totally ineffective when it comes to fighting for our side of the town.

Even the MP is missing when he’s needed.

So Garry keep up the good fight mate, you have lots of followers.
