I WENT to the revised red route open day at the Peace Centre on Sunday and I was shocked to find the plan is to construct two flyovers,.

One will be a double decker Mancunian Way type, which will run overhead along the middle of Sankey Way from just beyond the Rose Pub to the pink eye roundabout.

The pedestrian footbridge I understand will be replaced with a subway which probably no-one would feel safe using, current access across the dual carriageway to the side of the Sankey Valley Park will become difficult if not impossible.

Underneath the flyovers could possibly lead to fly tipping and misuse from certain elements of society.

I asked one of the Warrington Council officials about not being able to turn right on Cromwell Avenue to gain access to Hood Lane, he told me they were looking at reopening Hood Lane at the Rose Pub. Anyone that is familiar with Hood lane will know it is not suitable to be used as a through route.

There will be increased noise, pollution and loss of wildlife due to the many cars and HGVs using the link to avoid the tolls on the Widnes Runcorn crossings.

I can envisage the whole area as being gridlocked on a daily basis. I can understand the need for a bypass but not through a residential area and parkland.
