IT was good to read Chloe Laversuch’s article about Great Sankey Parish’s investment in flowers and I said as much on behalf of the Warrington Nature Conservation Forum on the Warrington Guardian website’s comment thread (June 1).

I was expecting a bit of flack but not the amount that one troll called ‘Rapport’ put into it.

As a former councillor, I am very used to such attacks, it is water off a duck’s back. But not against a group that I chair, the Warrington Nature Conservation Forum (WNCF).

He went on to criticise the parish council, saying that they wouldn’t look after the flower project and that it would look ‘unkempt and a disgrace to the community’.

Rapport also wrote: “It’s my annoyance at the apparent lack of knowledge of the local ecology that the WNCF group of pseudoecologists have and they possess no clout at all, and metaphorically exist as a mere lapdog to the current unitary authority.”

May I remind readers that because of the austerity cuts Warrington Borough Council has ceased to host us on its website and because I am no longer a councillor we no longer have the use of their meeting rooms for our executive quarterly meetings.

Fortunately, we have received a very good offer from Grappenhall Library as our new hosts as they recover from the austerity cuts.

We hope your readers enjoy the features that our members write about because we believe that nature does matter.
