I ATTENDED a very good talk at Eagle Sports Club regarding the building of the Mersey Gateway.
It was very interesting and informative.
What I and everyone else there did not know was that when this bridge was first muted all the councils in the vicinity (Warrington Borough Council, Vale Royal Borough Council, Frodsham and Helsby and Chester) were all invited to join Halton Council in the registration scheme.
The words used on the night were that none of the other councils wanted to know. ––In other words, Warrington Borough Council took the initiative to refuse the registration scheme which would allow Warrington residents to pass over the new Bridge for a yearly registration fee of £10.
It looks like we have been sold up the river yet again by our elected councillors. Maybe because there was nothing in it for them.
I and many others were shocked to hear this and wonder why there was no public consultation.
