READERS have been coming up with their own suggestions this week to tackle Peel Holdings lack of action painting the swing bridges.

I HAVE every sympathy for Cllr Jordan and her colleagues in their attempts to persuade Peel Holdings to paint the bridges (Warrington Guardian, January 26).

As they totally ignore requests or reasoned persuasion perhaps we need to take more drastic action to bring them to heel?

How about a sit in on Stockton Heath Swing Bridge when a boat is about to pass through?

With the Swing Bridge app I am certain that enough people could support this.

If a few boats were delayed and consequently missed the tides at Liverpool this would make them sit up.

Or is this too radical for the English way of dealing with things?

We can learn

FOLLOWING Celia Jordan’s letter to the Warrington Guardian I think it would be interesting to know who paid for the painting of the Trafford Park bridge, which is similar to the Warrington bridges.

This bridge is resplendent in red and white, I am sure it is no coincidence that Manchester United’s ground is nearby.

Perhaps we could learn from this arrangement.

Too dangerous

REGARDING the sad condition of the three bridges crossing the ship canal.

Can the council not slap a compulsory purchase order on Peel Ports?

Surely these bridges are now in a dangerous condition.
