Distorted vote
I AGREE completely with Andy Watson’ letter, ‘Is voting fair ?’ (Warrington Guardian, January 19).
Our FPTP (first past the post) system gives four million UKIP voters one MP, one million Green Party voters one MP, 2.5 million Lib Dems eight MPs and 1.5 million SNP voters 50 MPs.
Labour and Tories won’t want to change this as they always hope to form a government on 40 per cent of the vote.
No wonder so many people think the system distorts what should be a fair and representative result.
