RECENTLY in Locking Stumps, Trefoil, Violet, Campion and Bracken Closes were resurfaced.
I phoned the council to enquire what the cost and reasons were for the work.
They said they would respond by email, but never did. Through a freedom of information request I was told that the cost was £100,000, and the reason was ‘as part of the ongoing highway investment programme’.
Given the state of funding for libraries, social care and other things, it would seem that work done should be based on needing to be done.
This work did not need to be done.
The surfaces were fine, and no threat to vehicles or pedestrians.
