BEARING in mind that we don’t have any alternative local newspaper to the Warrington Guardian, I would have thought that Pete Magill would have brought a more balanced and less political view to his comments (Warrington Guardian, October 6).

He says the Tories are ‘hell bent on starving the north out of services, simply because we didn’t vote Tory’.

I agree this is a petty minded and vindictive approach by central Government.

But is it any worse than the attitude displayed by our local council? You’ve kept quiet on that on Pete, haven’t you?

It’s a petty minded tit for tat and outright vindictiveness on both counts.

We have an Orford ‘hub’.

When will the Grappenhall or Stockton Heath hub be built? Don’t hold your breath. What about car parking?

We have to pay to park in south Warrington.

Tell me, where are the pay car parks in north Warrington?

As for traffic calming spends, I reckon more was spent in Alder Lane alone that in all of south Warrington.

Does this mean the children in north Warrington are more precious than those in the south?

What about play areas with swings, for the kids?

I could go on but think I’ve made my point.

Pete, this is the Warrington Guardian, not the Labour Times.

It’s the newspaper for all the people of Warrington so please let’s have more balance.
