GARY Bebbington is certainly a prolific letter writer.

I don’t usually take much notice but I feel I must answer his latest contribution regarding the appearance of Euclid Avenue and St Wilfrid’s Drive in Grappenhall (Warrington Guardian, August 4).

Mr Bebbington, speaking about Euclid Avenue, perhaps if we could have our avenue back we might feel more able to care for it in safety.

Since the opening of Tesco and East View being made one way and despite much campaigning Euclid Avenue has changed from a nice quiet side road to a very busy and dangerous thoroughfare (in fact it is nothing more than a rat run).

It is used as a short cut to all other roads, a situation made even worse when the swing bridge turns.

Far more non-resident drivers use it than do residents. The speed of traffic is unbelievable.

From Mr Bebbington’s comments I can only assume that he is one of these people, seeing as he feels the need to write about it – even though it is not necessary to drive up Euclid Avenue to access other roads.

If we could safely access the road, and not have to wait for as many as 10 cars to pass, we might be able to do the necessary tidying that he would like us to do or he is quite welcome to risk life and limb to try himself.

Perhaps he could also fill in the potholes that keep appearing because of the volume and speed of traffic.

I can’t comment about St Wilfrid’s Drive as, not being a resident and not really needing to drive there, I don’t know anything about the circumstances.

Come on Mr Bebbington and others meet us half way and help us make our road safer and we will be able to do something about it.
