I AM astonished by the current situation that Cllr Brinksman has found himself in due to the ludicrous selection process conducted by Warrington North Labour Party.

It is very straightforward to me.

As a lifelong resident of Woolston who served on Woolston Parish Council from 1989 to 1994 and 2007 to 2011, Billy has to be the hardest working, most conscientious and committed councillor that any political party or community could wish to have as its representative.

Whether it was road safety, heritage, environmental issues such as the flood defences and Woolston Ecology Park, campaigning to protect residents from irresponsible development or retain public amenities and transport and so much more, Billy was always there giving no less than 100 per cent.

Let me make this clear too. In my two stints as a parish councillor in Woolston, I never recall Billy being absent and he would arrive even for the last 10 minutes if he had been on borough council business, such was his commitment.

Warrington North Labour Party should be focused on the horrific injustices of this Government’s ongoing severe austerity cuts destroying our public services, the potential fracking issues in Warrington North, specifically the environmental and health calamities of coal bed methane extraction and the reckless injustices of constantly hitting the disabled, working poor, women and all those in many cases seen as ‘soft targets’, in order to reduce taxes for their powerful friends.

Not deselecting exemplary councillors with decades of outstanding public service.
