I AM appalled at the recent work being carried out on the railway embankment in Latchford.

It is disgusting that more houses are being built and a bridge that has stood for more than 100 years is now to be taken down.

I find it upsetting that local landmarks are being demolished for high rise houses.

On the Cantilever there is a lot of wildlife including foxes and badgers that have lived there for years and caused no harm to our surrounding area – even bringing joy when at dusk they run down the street.

I find it highly upsetting.

To the council, or whoever is behind this, I hope you’re happy to remove local landmarks for the sake of more traffic and congestion in our town.

I am sure other residents agree.
