PEEL Ports consistently ducks its responsibilities to maintain the Warrington bridges across the Manchester Ship Canal.
The London Road bridge broke down twice in two weeks at the end of July, gridlocking the centre of Stockton Heath and causing considerable traffic congestion as far as Bridge Foot and beyond.
The bridges are gateways into Warrington and their obvious appearance of disrepair and dereliction sends out the wrong signal to both residents and businesses looking to relocate.
Peel Ports say it cannot afford the cost of a coat of paint on the bridges.
I find that very difficult to believe given the size of its operations.
It is time for Peel Port to accept its responsibilities and show some TLC for Warrington’s bridges.
