I HOPE the person who signed the planning order for the death trap on Farnworth Road will be able to sleep when someone is killed by the ridiculous road block that has been installed.

As said in last week’s Guardian by Peter Rutherford, this is an accident waiting to happen.

The staff in the highways department are having a laugh at our expense aren’t they?

They must be in the Guinness Book of Records for the most modifications to road systems in the world.

Let’s start with the roundabout at Asda Westbrook, the longest time taken to modify traffic lights on Sankey Way, Crosfields roundabout now worse than before and the exit from St Gregory’s after the revamp impossible.

The highest speed hump, Chapleford Village. I now know why they all have 4x4s.

The no right turn out of Calver Road at LA Bowl – all around the roundabout on Winwick Road to go back to Callands.

The largest number of roundabouts on one road, Cromwell Avenue. The most traffic lights on a town centre expressway bypass.

The most number of SAS trained traffic wardens (you can’t see them hiding).

The longest time taken to get out of two shopping retail parks – Alban and Riverside Retail.

The longest time taken to pass through a village – Stockton Heath.

No drop off point at the bus interchange, the tiny layby is full of taxi drivers from Rochdale. A rugby stadium and superstore with an entrance the size of the path to my house.

And by the way you can’t park there if you wish to watch the match.

The two-mile visit to my doctor now takes me through six different speed limits, 20, 30, 40 back to 30 then 20 and 5mph in the car park.

They are starting to store the problems up.

Wait until they have finished building all the warehouses on the Burtonwood base.

Add this to the price of parking, £3 to have a blood test at the hospital, together with the new bus prices and it is no wonder Penketh and Sankey residents are shopping in Widnes and residents of Stockton Heath and Appleton go to Northwich.

Please remove this road block before someone is killed as surely a number of sleeping policemen would have been sufficient.

Sorry we have no policeman left.
