BEN Gowland was looking forward to his third birthday party.
Twenty friends were coming and for weeks the excitement had built for his first ‘proper’ party.
He was ready in his new Spiderman costume but 20 minutes before it was due to start, disaster struck.
The venue, St Mary’s Church Hall in Lymm, had double booked the party with a regular dance class.
The dance school had apparently arranged its last session after the end of the school year and for some reason the hall organiser was not aware of this.
It is really disappointing that St Mary’s can’t get its bookings organised properly and I would caution anyone thinking of booking that when problems occur, you’re very much second-rate to the more regular bookers.
All was not lost however as 3rd Lymm Scouts stepped in at the last minute and offered use of Maple Lodge, the new Scout and Guide Centre in Lymm.
It was a great venue, but obviously we had nothing in place for the party there and none of the guests knew about the change.
