ON July 9 our black bin was not collected and this was the day it should have been emptied.

Upon realising the bin had not been taken it became clear that this was the case for the other houses in my street. However the main road opposite, which also connects to our street, had its bins collected.

I completed the appropriate form on Warrington Borough Council’s website and was informed I could leave three extra bags of waste for the next black bin collection which will be today, July 23.

My concern is that I have maggots and flies in my bin already which will only get worse before the bin is collected and the bin is directly outside my house.

I am unable to move the bin further away from the house as this will then cause an obstruction to vehicles.

My second issue is I am unsure where I am supposed to store three extra bags of rubbish.

If left in the house these will start to smell in the heat. I have a two-year-old daughter and am not prepared to put her health at risk because somebody has failed to do their job properly.

If I put the extra waste outside, besides the horrific smell, more maggots, flies, cats and other animals are likely to rip the bags causing the street to become littered.

I have been told my only other option is to take the waste to a waste point myself, which is extremely unreasonable. This is not my job.

The reason the bins were not collected is supposedly because the truck could not enter our street – this is false.

There are two entrances and they only use one, which was free that day. The other entrance was blocked due to building work but this is never used.

Our bins were not collected and now we are left with two to four weeks worth of waste directly outside out houses, full of maggots and flies, attracting rodents and causing a terrible smell.

Our only options are to remove it ourselves or leave extra waste and pose even more of a health risk. Something needs to be done.

It may not be ‘procedure’ to do a further collection if one is missed but this needs to change. Warrington Borough Council is causing a complete health risk.
