IN response to the article by Gary Bebbington, April 9.

Surely with the juggernaut that is world politics, world trends and international differences let alone EU treaties, it would have been impossible to prevent the economic crisis of 2007 onward.

And where did the economic crisis originate from? It would not have been America by any chance?

However this is never emphasised in letters such as Mr Bebbington’s.

To lay the blame solely at Labour’s door is somewhat narrow minded.

Mr Bebbington does make a reasonable point about PFI brought in by New Labour – not Now Labour.

Is it possible that PFI was first thought of by the Conservative party and perhaps instituted by New Labour to avoid selling off the NHS altogether that many inside the NHS fear the Conservatives still have in mind.

Since the Conservatives have always favoured the laissez-faire free market approach to economics had they been in office at the time then the economic crisis would have been far worse.

Any economic recovery has not been brought about by the people responsible for the mess the country is in due to their sheer greed and incompetence, but by those who could little afford to bail the country out.

A real distribution of wealth in this country is going to have to take place as people are beginning to wise up seeing the truth and not hoodwinked by cherry picked statistics and the untruth that Labour nearly caused an economic catastrophe.

If Mr Bebbington thinks we have benefited from an apparent recovery then he needs to speak to people from various occupations and measure their responses. QED as they say.
