HOW ironic that the scrapping of Trans-Pennine trains via Warrington ‘to avoid weaving across the throat of Manchester Piccadilly station’ should be announced on the same day that the building of the Ordsall Chord raillink – to remove that very bottleneck – was approved by the Government.
