AS a regular user of the Latchford Lock pedestrian crossing I am worried about the lack of progress in making the walkways safe.
The one at the east end of the large lock is ok but the remaining one at the west end which, admittedly, is not available most days, and the one on the small lock which is in constant daily use, are dangerous.
The safety mesh on these walkways was removed to enable new safety bars to be installed months ago, the result being large open gaps over an estimated 20-foot drop into the Manchester Ship Canal.
High winds and an inquisitive, playful child are a most dangerous combination.
A visit by the Health and Safety Executive may lead to Peel Holdings taking rapid action.
