REGARDING your recent report on the merger of Golden Gates Housing Trust and Helena Housing, it seems to me to be well overstaffed, having more than a thousand workers.
I am sure that they could do the job with half that number.
Golden Gates are always bragging about low rents. I don’t think so! They have got to be the highest in the north of England.
They should shed staff and knock about £20 off the weekly rent.
The Liberals kept rent low and at one stage knocked £3.50 off the cost of the weekly rent.
Also, to me, GGHT is a very poor provider for tenants. It takes them weeks to fit a bathroom, whereas the private sector can do so in a couple of days with no disruption and constant pestering by workers to access the property to do a minutes work, after which they are gone again.
GGHT is a wasteful service and I hope Helena Housing know what they are letting themselves in for.
It’s cheaper now to buy with 80 per cent discount.
