Warrington Guardian: Forgotten man Forgotten man

WHY is it that every other part of Great Britain celebrates their saint’s day but here in England St George’s Day seems to be left in abeyance and never celebrated.

We even celebrate St Patrick’s Day, St Andrew’s Day and St David’s Day but I can’t understand why St George’s Day is never celebrated the way it should.

Possibly because the other countries' saints have an actual connection with their respective nations.

If we are going to have national saint it should be one who was born or at least lived here.

Aidan, Bede, Cuthbert, Beckett, Alban etc. etc.

Flying the English flag could be interpreted by some as you being a member of the BNP and identify you as an evil racist, fascist pig.

It is unfortunately true that various unpleasant organisations - the BNP, EDL etc.. have chosen to wrap themselves in the English flag.
