LABOUR MP for Warrington, Helen Jones, made some comments in the Guardian last week about our local Healthwatch.

I recall this is the fourth or fifth time that Governments over the years have changed a perfectly working system.

Being a governor at the hospital, having inspected nursing homes, hospitals and councils with the Care Quality Commission I have a keen interest in health issues.

Two of my friends have left their jobs at Healthwatch because of unpleasantness and job uncertainty. That has left one person running the office, the manager has no access to the internet because she has never been given the code.

When the Government set up Healthwatch, it said it was to be an independent body. In Warrington that is not the case.

So Helen, before criticising people working in difficult circumstances I recommend you look closer to home.
