IN response to Kevin Stokes letter, Guardian, April 3, I think he is missing my point.

The cost of the signing for this project could be money better spent as all small roads in housing estates and those near schools should be treated by motorists with extra care and caution all of the time.

It is a waste of taxpayers’ money when very few will take any notice of the limits.

I am very annoyed at his assumptions about my driving. He does not know me and has never driven with me.

I have held a full driving licence for 45 years without any points or parking tickets. I always obey the rules of the road and drive accordingly for the conditions, never going over the designated limits. I have my car regularly serviced and am meticulous about its roadworthiness. There are two garages in Warrington and two in Wigan who will verify this.

Lastly I am a retired Registered Nurse who has seen the results of road traffic collisions, bombings and shootings first hand, in several operating theatres throughout the regions.

Please do not make assumptions about me or my driving and consider whether the 20mph limit is an enforcable one. Is the £552,000 well spent if it is not?

Who will enforce it, when as you are well aware, very few will take notice until they are fined and given points? Have the police really got time to enforce 20 mph limits?
