THE recent change to the Virgin Trains timetable added a couple of hours to my return journey to London.
Accustomed to a direct service down the west coast main line to the capital taking around two hours, I booked my ticket for a specific timed train, but on arrival at Bank Quay I discovered that a timetable change at the beginning of the month saw my train routed via Birmingham New Street, and was timetabled at just under three hours.
It seems that Virgin has extended its west Midlands services to the capital – but there is no specific warning on the booking sites.
So if time is precious, as it is to most of us, please check the journey time before pressing the ‘buy now’ button.
