I WAS recently offered a position at one of the new warehouses at the Omega site in Burtonwood.

The first problem I faced was the site isn’t on any map so I couldn’t find where it was. The second, having no car, and assuming the site was near the old hangars, near Joy Lane, I could use public transport to get there. But much to my amazement there are no buses that go that way, the nearest stop I could find was at Westbrook, a good hour away.

What is the point of building these employment areas in the middle of nowhere, then depriving them of transport links.

The same goes for places like Stretton which, if you are working shifts is nigh on impossible to get to.

Warrington Borough Council, should wake up to this and ensure that at the very least these areas should be serviced to enable people to get to work for early shifts and to get get home from late shifts. Current running times are neither use nor ornament to shiftworkers who do not have a car. The transport system should recognise this rather than in 10 years time as an afterthought, start possibly thinking about offering a piecemeal service as is the case with the now belated bus service up to Lingley Mere.
