CREATIVE talents are needed to back Warrington’s bid for UK City of Culture 2021.

Artists and photographers are invited to take part in a new competition for the chance to have your work showcased in Warrington town centre as the bidding process hots up.

And there are also vouchers for Golden Square Shopping Centre to be won.

Warrington is battling with Coventry, Perth, Paisley, Stoke, Sunderland, Portsmouth, Swansea, St Davids, Wells and Hereford.

The winning work will be put up at key locations in the town centre such as the Contact Warrington building, Horsemarket Street.

The competition is open to all age groups with winners announced from the following categories:

  •  Under 13
  •  13-19
  •  Open age

Judges will be looking for artwork or photography inspired by the theme: ‘Warrington: Past and Future’.

Each entry must be two-dimensional, A3 / A4 in size and submitted in landscape or portrait format.

Photographs should be at least 300dpi.

Entries will be judged on originality and creativity, judges are looking for bold, striking pieces that will make an impact at locations around the town centre.

Submit your artwork to Warrington Town Hall, Sankey Way, Warrington, WA1 1UH.

Photography and digital artwork can be submitted via warrington 2021@warrington.gov.uk.

Closing date for entries is 5pm on Friday, April 28 and each applicant must submit a completed entry form with each piece of artwork / photography.
