WOLVES first-team coach Jimmy Lowes has warned his players not to underestimate Bradford Bulls when the pair meet in Super League on Sunday.

Although Bradford have lost two of their last three games and currently sit four places behind Warrington in the league table, Lowes says his former team's recent performances have been good.

A 36-22 win against Wakefield last week helped restore a degree of positivity at Odsal and they will also be keen to avenge their 58-22 thumping by Wolves at Odsal earlier in the season.

Lowes said: "They’re playing really well.

"They had a couple of poor results, against Celtic and Salford, but I spoke to (Bradford head coach) Steve McNamara after the Salford game and he said they bombed four or five good chances.

"They played really well against Wakefield so we’ll have to be on our game or we’ll get caught by them.

"I’m sure they’ll have that game against us earlier in the season at the back of their minds and we’ll have to be on our guard."

Lowes also reserved praise for the recent performances of his own team.

Although Lowes and head of coaching and rugby Tony Smith were not entirely pleased with the display against Castleford last week, a 34-18 win was Wolves' fifth straight triumph.

And Lowes believes the players deserve credit for their ability to do what is required to get results.

He said: "Tony and the rest of us base what we do every week on performance. Our focus is on getting the performances right and then the results will take care of themselves.

"I was very pleased to come away from Castleford with the two points because it always seems quite tough when we go there and I remember last year, we only nicked it in the last minute there.

"They’re an awkward side for us and came here early in the year and beat us, so it was good, it was a good hard-fought win and, as with any sport, there’s always room for improvement but there’s always room to pat people on the back as well."

Lowes was also quick to re-iterate he is still enjoying his time at Warrington and working alongside Smith, but has still not spoken to the club about extending his deal beyond the end of the current season.

He said: "I’m enjoying it and I’m enjoying working with the guys, I’ve said that since I came here.

"I’ve not even spoken about the future yet and there’s no real rush, we’re just working hard to get this team up and running week in, week out. We’ll talk about those issues when we need to down the line."
